Does an ink cartridge for an all in one printer exist, black and white or color, that has a longer shelf life than six months?

Do you have a specific printer in mind or is this a general question?

I last replaced my printer ink in early 2019. This week I got the first indicator to replace the cyan, after I printed a form that had a color background.

I have been using the same printer for eight years. Stockpiling cartridges would be a bit silly.

@Forever_Free General question. I am looking for a good printer that has long lasting ink cartridges that store well.

Yes. I have quite a few (e.g. Canon 225/226’s) that have lasted for years. At least, they work. I don’t know what the “manufacturer’s recommended shelf life” is… let’s see… oh, they’re out of their box, so if they had one, I don’t know.

However I have also had some for a different printer which were programmed to refuse to work by electronically considering older ink cartridges “expired”. That would be the main reason why I stopped using that printer. Scumbags!

I recently installed an HP cartridge that I found in my dad’s office. The box had been sitting there for years and had a thick layer of dust on it. It worked fine.

Printers and ink are just awful and the biggest racket around. I had one printer that if it ran out of one color, it wouldn’t print at all, even in black and white. My current HP Envy printer will print as long as there’s a cartridge in there. The cartridges don’t seem to hold much, but at least they have a long shelf life.

My Canon pretends like there’s a problem doing things (not only B&W, but even scanning!) with low Cyan etc., but you can press a couple of keys to bypass that panic mode, if you know or guess what to press.

Try Epson EcoTank no cartridge, you refill silos.

I would shake the ink up some every couple of months If you’re concerned.
Otherwise I think it would be like a food item at your grocers: They put some expiration date on there to make you think it has gone bad so you’ll throw it out and go buy more. Meanwhile, the food you threw out is still perfectly good.
Run the ink. If something happens to it and it won’t feed ink, then replace it.

But don’t sweat it.
