Advice on a crush?

So I like this guy, and my brain keeps telling me that something good is gonna happen with him and he might just be the one. I don’t know if this is just because of teenage dumb emotions, and normally I would say that, but I’ve liked him for six years. Not even on and off for six years, like there was a time where I wouldn’t see him for a year to a year and a half, but I would still think about him a lot. I just don’t know if I should pursue this even though I’m so shy or if the whole situation is just dumb. I’ve never thought about a crush like this for so long, and I’ve never even liked someone this long.

It will take some courage, but you should definitely pursue it.

My father told me that it isn’t the guy who chooses the girl, it is the girl who chooses the guy. So quit waiting for him and get in close and say “Hello.”
Open the door!

Oh. Well. Your screen name says “Boi.”
Then I default to @kritiper‘s response.

@Dutchess_III I saw that, too, and wondered. But in this day and age anything said might be of help so I threw it out there.

@kritiper @Dutchess_III yeah haha it’s a reference to a character. But I’m definitely a girl, so thanks for the advice!

When I was 17, I was smitten with a young man two years older. This crush lasted for several years. He had a serious girlfriend for six years. They broke up when they went to different colleges. At one point, he called to ask if I would go a basketball game with him. We did.

He met another girl. One day, she called me to say that he was moving to my area and asked if I needed a rooomate. Wow. Unfortunately, I didn’t, but called him and invited him over for dinner. He ended up moving into the same apt. complex; two doors over.

It was the first time we spent any real time together. As I got to know him and his lovely girlfriend, I realized that this wasn’t the right guy for me. And they were perfect for each other. I went to their wedding in ‘85. They are still happily married.

I’ve since met the man who thrills me more than any other. It took many years to come across him, but it was well worth the wait.

@Pied_Pfeffer….yeah our fantasies are stronger than reality.

@Dutchess_III It wasn’t that. It was more that the world opened up, and I was able to meet people from all walks of life. Well, that and I grew up a bit. Still working on that though.

The real answer is that it may or may not pan out. The only way to find out is if one you takes the first step. Otherwise, you may wonder about it for the rest of your life. My mother’s best friend from school days did this.
