“The singularity” is mainly a sci-fi fantasy/horror created to sell books etc to people who don’t understand AI.
It’s “powered” by misundertanding.
Understanding and solutions do not work that way.
Of course, if people keep acting like they want to create something like that, and develop AI that does its own thing and hook it up to systems designed to allow random access, then they can create some destructive and dangerous software that could take advantage of all the other stupid/foolish decisions to put networked computers in everything.
But that’s yet another case of gravely foolish humans setting themselves up for predictable disasters.
Like, hmm let’s automate lots and lots of motor vehicles as soon as we can barely make it work, and be sure to network them with wirelessly, and have them accept software “updates”... LOL that couldn’t possibly go wrong in any way, right?
