So what is at the other end, on your home net. You will need something running SSH on the other to decrypt the packets.

Have you tried using a domain name versus the ip address. I’ve found that when trying to ssh into my xp box at home, I was not able to use an ip, BUT I was able to use a domain name. Check out dyndns.org and setup an account with them. You’re using a router and most have a dns service built in so just set that up for your new domain and whammo. You’ve got shell!

Are you using a public key? Have you made sure that your public key is all on one line? What are you using to connect?

@fWrex: I think you better read the first post of the thread to see what I’m trying to accomplish.
I’m admin of both client and server, and I’m using linux’s CLI built in SSH to connect. I have all passwords necessary, and I can connect to get a shell. It seems there is a bandwith limit(I think), and I want to raise it.

@Anaphase: No, not torrents. I couldn’t care less about those when I have a netbook with a 4gb harddrive, with 200mb’s to spare.

I see what you’re saying, but this; is why I’m asking. Search for “buffer_get_ret: trying to get more bytes 4 than in buffer 0” on that page. Have you tried connecting using the -v option to get better output? Maybe post that here so we can see what you’re seeing.

@fWrex: Ah… i see. Keys, huh? I don’t know if it makes a difference, but I’m not using putty at either end. It would appear that the keygen is my problem, though. i’m using a different type of password, I’ll post a screenshot when i get home.

Thanks a ton! I just used EtherApe and KNmap on my college’s Wifi. My CIS 101 teacher didn’t even know it was possible- Scary. It would be great to know my logins are safer than on such a public network.
