It’s all about how good the unit is, and how much signal you’re catching. Surprisingly, car radios are some of the best you can buy cheap, but require a bit of converting to use in a home.
I recall that I used to get the best signal plugging my stereo receiver into a cable tv terminal with a coaxial cable, and getting pretty darn good radio reception.
Easy answer – get one with a digital tuner, that costs more than the cheap ones.
