Not necessarily. They might be self serving and greedy, but at the same time some of them can render valuable service. The name escapes me, but the founder of Space X for example. N A S A needs some competition in space, and this guy is not reliant on tax payer dollars to do it. So he is still rendering a valuable service, regardless of how many Dead Presidents he stuffs in his own pocket. Why should the Government be allowed monopolize outer space?

It would make more sense to ask if these people condone robbery or even if in fact they want to become robbers. Again lottery ticket winners are a counterexample. Lottery ticket buyers willingly contribute money on the chance that they may be the winners. Unless the lottery is rigged, they have no grounds for asking for their money back.

Just one follow up on my response above. I have heard people complain that Space X is nothing more than a method for the weathy elite to have a joy ride in space. So what? That may be true, but I’d rather have rich folks up there peacefully seeing the sites, so to speak, than have Uncle Sam up there trying to militarize space and plant some whackadoodle dooms day shit up there. As far as I know Space X has no connection to, or obligations to, the Pentagon.
