For those who are coming How do you feel about meeting at an Indian restaurant in Berkeley? There are some nice ones on Sodano Ave. I’m not pushing for that but they tend to be on the quiet side.

Still thinking about location ideas.

Indian is fine. Best to pick someplace with outdoor seating for those of us who are paranoid.

^^ OK. Don’t know if many of the Indian places have outdoor dining. Now I’m thinking of @zenvelo‘s Picante which says they have only outdoor dining or maybe Jupiter Brewery (http://www.jupiterbeer.com/) on Shattuck which is a brew pub and pizza place with a large outdoor courtyard. Do we think it will be warm enough for outdoors? I’m fine with it.

I think if we can shoot for 5:30–6 wherever we go, it might be quieter than later if folks can make it then.

I’m frozen here in Wisconsin and won’t be thawed until mid April at the earliest. I’m jelly!

I’ll be staying at a friends apartment on Rosemont Place between Mission and Castro Districts.
Equidistant to downtown and Golden Gate park 40 minute walk.
From what I see cars are not so convenient: parking, break-ins, traffic.
Does anyone have a suggestion for a place in 2 weeks, Feb 16 or 15? I’m willing to take a train (I think) I’m not familiar with the system.
Is Picante a reasonable suggestion for me, too?
Edit: I see that Berkely is on the other side (east) of the bridge. Maybe there is a train? Is that the center of mass for everyone?

@LuckyGuy PIcante is across the bay in Berekely, but it is not near a BART station. The alternatve that @janbb had offered, Jupiter Brewing, is across a broad street (Shattuck Avenue) from the Berkeley BART station.

Alternatively, we could meet at a place in the Mission. I would defer to suggestions from others as to Berkeley or the City, both work for me.

@LuckyGuy As of yesterday, restaurants in SF require proof of vaccination AND booster.

@zenvelo Thanks. You can relax. I’m fully vaxxed and boosted and have the digital pass to prove it. (I even have the scanner to verify other people’s status. I’ll bring it if anyone wants to play. ) I also have N95 masks.
Mission would be great for me. That looks like an interesting neighborhood! But meeting across from the Berkely BART is ok, too.

Lucky, your New York digital proof of vaccination is useless in other states. Take a photo of your vaccination card, or just take your card. Here, everybody takes a photo that includes both the ID and the vaccination card.

@Hawaii_Jake Thanks for the heads up. I’ll bring the paper cards but I was in Pasadena in Nov, and the French Quarter in Dec and the digital pass worked. I even tested my scanner on my Louisiana friend’s digital pass and it read his information correctly: Name, DOB and green check mark from the state confirming he was up to date.
It appears that some states standardized on the digital pass and QR code methodology. I find it shocking that NY and Louisiana agree on anything. :-)

@Brian1946 Frisco is in Colorado off of I 70, and the parking there is not too bad, although it gets crowded in the summer.

Parking in Berkeley depends on if you are willing to pay; street parking can be a challenge, but not impossible. Jupiter Brewing is in the most congested part of town, so pay for a lot or take BART.

@zenvelo But we’re meeting at Picante which is in a less crowded part of town.

Since I will be only 10 minutes from the BART 16th and Mission station I can easily travel anywhere. The Jupiter Brew pub sounds like a great location. I’m guessing that is good for anyone else who wants to meet.
