I need help to determine what type of computer printer would be easiest to hook up to my computer system?

I prefer what is called a lan line connection and if I am correct it means to just attatch to the computer tower .

Even though I have WiFi I prefer not to use that as it can, I heard be hacked into.

I want an inkjet printer as those are best for photographs and art and so on.
It must have a flatbed scanner and resolution 300 dpi -1200 capabilities in case I wish to produce posters in the future.
Plus keep it under $1000 or mid range ( $200 – $600 maybe).

I don’t have my printer connected to internet in any way. The computer is, of course. I keep wireless turned off at the router….no WIFI at my house! It helps visitors be ready to go home sooner.

Plus is it imperative to have printer software, as I have my own photo software and do not want interference from yet another program to set up.

Look at Epson Eco Tank 8550. Can print on 13” X 19” paper. Does not have to be WiFi.

Is Epson a good brand as I had read negative comments especially on connecting and also costs of ink
( most printer companies make ther money off the ink anyways).

I was thinking on it more..its not important to the larger sizes (just regular is good enought for now), as I could get the Posters in future printed up at a Photography print service for those, if need be.

My old HP Deskjet printer just had a USB plug and play connection. It made nice prints of my digital photos. It never lost connection (unlike my wireless printers).

People seem happy with it. It’s USB, which is good.

I have a Canon wireless printer. Not only does it lose connection a lot, it is hard to re-establish the connection. I stopped trying to connect to it wirelessly. The USB connection works every time.

My wife’s wireless Epson printer works well. It loses connection every now and then, but is easy to re-establish.

You already got great answers but I would like to advise you not to take an inkjet printer unless you plan on using it on daily basis. These printer’s ink dries very fast and it’s a mess to make it work again properly if left alone for few days. And it costs a fortune to buy it’s ink cartridges.

I would recommend an all in one laser printer. You can print today and leave it for a month.. Nothing to worry about the print quality. New ones comes with wifi and lan. Don’t worry about being hacked. They work on wpa2 and or wpa3 which is the highest known encryption. It’s certainly worth the investment.

If you still want an inkjet. Then I would recommend using it with a CISS system, it would save you tons in inks. And be sure to print atleast a single page daily.

I researched before and ink het printers for more ( colors?) or somthing compared to laser?
I have ued ink jet printers in the past ( Canon) and printed periodically and had not problem of ink drying up unless not used for a month or so).

Primarily there are four colors cyan (blue), magenta (a red hue), yellow, and black which makes up all the colors needed to print multi colored image. The same color combination is used in laser printers, only difference is, laser uses dry powder and inkjet uses liquid.

In the inkjet category avoid Epson, as they use piezoelectric technology based print heads, which is great and all but very money consuming. HP and Canon are ok as the print head comes along with cartridges. And head is the main part of any inkjet.

If print head is blocked, you can simply buy new ink cartridges in HP, Cannon but in Epson, you’ll have to buy new head, which costs more than printer itself, hardly ideal!

I had two of those and while one lasted a few years the other less than a year.
My supplier ( store in Town) at that time told me that Canon was going out and Also that scanning won’t be available with it?
I live in Canada and costs would be different plus the shipping from else where would determine if I purchse local if available and the Printer actualy lasts longer than a couple of years.

I have read so many bad comments online about some printers and that is why I ask here for those who are happy with their Printer.
Bascially the Pros and Cons.
