On the inside of the drawer it says “Young Republic” Tell City Chair Co. Tell City, Indiana Solid Maple

Looking. . .so far can’t find a price. Will continue.

Ok, looked at yours again and it isn’t exactly like mine. Mine has a design doohickey between drawer 2 and 3, and has 2 small knobs on the top drawer in addition to one of the regular drawer pulls in the center.

Good call about looking in the drawer @smudges.

My parents were antique lovers. I learned a lot – like looking for dovetails to identify quality workmanship, among others.

According to this Facebook post they’re rare.
I also got a queen sleigh bed and a bedside table.

We paid $300 for all 3 pieces. I think we got a deal!

Hmmm…keep searching, you never know what treasures you may have. I’m not sure if they made queen-sized beds in the 50’s – just something to think about. Does it have the Bissman stamp?

Oh yeah! Definitely a deal!

Dang it, you got me re-hooked on searching for a number of items I have that I’ve wondered about over the years. LOL

Dutchess_III's avatar

Yes. A Bissman sticker in the first drawer.

I meant on the bed.

I can see it for sale for €200 ($225).
I wouldn’t buy it myself though.

Dutchess_III's avatar

I love it. Do you have a link to your site @rebbel?

Bed was made in Vietnam.

Not sure, but I think it might be a wooden one.

I’m amazed now at all the great furniture that can be had from Habitat for Humanity Restore, Goodwill and other thrift shops. I recently got an Ethan Allen piece for like $10 or 20, two Drexel Heritage end tables for $10 each, and a Monson coffee table, made in Maine, for $10. All solid wood, great workmanship, none trendy but they will outlive me.

Impressive, @jca2!
