Is "Moonfall" the dumbest film that Roland Emmerich has ever made?

I thought ID4 2 was ludicrous, but this one surpasses even that.
What shocked me the most, was not even the premise of the moon being hollow and created by aliens, which I think is actually a genuinely interesting concept, but how unintentionally hilarious the dialogue was, as if Emmerich was hopped up on shrooms when he wrote it.
It literally ends with a hologram of an elderly woman saying to a fat guy “You are part of the moon now.”

But I’m totally ignorant regarding most German movies that aren’t “Human Centipede”, and I’ve never heard of Rolland Emmerich.

However I have been told I’m part of the moon lots of times.

The man made “Independence Day”, “Independence Day2”, “Stargate”, “2012”, “The Day after Tomorrow”, and who could forget, the first colonial “Godzilla” movie from 1998.

I’m glad to say that I’m not qualified to answer this question, nor do I plan to ever become qualified.

I couldn’t be bothered to watch the first Independence Day. I did see Stargate (which I thought was sort of dumb but ok-ish) and that Godzilla (which I thought was rather “meh”), and was slightly curious about 2012 and The Day After Tomorrow, but not enough to watch them or even read any reviews.

My suspicion is that his work has a unifying theme of low intelligence, and I’m trying to cut back on my low-intelligence media consumption.

Stargate was the only one I didn’t hate, and only because it launched the totally bad but campy fun Stargate franchise. I didn’t even bother with Moonfall. It bombed so hopefully producers will stop throwing him money.

Oh no. I had intention to see this movie. Despite the fact it was probably shot using digital cameras which I abhore. Was hoping it would be as entertaining as Stargate and ID1 and if not at least worth one watch as 2012 and The Day After Tomorrow.

What is happening to Hollywood producers and directors like Emmerich? Brain drain?

Well, if you are into “so bad, it is good” movies, like “Battlefield Earth”, you should still see it.

What I think is happening with Emmerich, is that he desperately wants to repeat the magic of Independence Day, but with every new attempt, he becomes more and more unhinged, and strays further from the goal, because he does not actually understand what made the first film so successful.

^^That is so tragic. Always fantasized about Abrams and his team before they conceptualized and wrote their SW script meeting a bunch of old time SW fans to see what they think. In the hopes of avoiding putting in crappy ideas which their SW movies ended up having. Lol
