I digitized a LOT of them. They’re in a variety of places…in albums and boxes.

They are randomly thrown into boxes and stuff with the occasional promise to myself that I will organize them.

Some are digital now, but I have three hat boxes full as well as 6 albums.

Most of the old ones are already in albums. Occasionally, I come across an envelope of some. I generally look through and then throw these out or I stick the envelope back in a drawer. I hardly ever print out curret photos unless I want to paint the subject.

They are all scanned and digitized. I have them boxed and cataloged with a notation in the software if I need to find one.
It took awhile to set this up but is critical for finding anything in the +40,000 photos.

I was about to ask the same question! Curious how people store their negatives in particular.

FUTURE SOLUTION: I bought two of these to organize the chaos.

Scanned copies on computer and then edited and restored some using software.

Downloaded the edited photogrpahs into a self published Family History book.

Have taken all phtographs out of old phto albums and have all boxed in shoebox type of

containers and stored in a suitcase for easy removal in case of a major Fire, disaster etc.

By the way one has to go back to those didital copies to retouch them periodically as the

color fased as well as ght Black And White ones do also.

As for negative Scan them and the pictures come out on the paper.

I have original negatives in the film sleeve that they originally came in.

Can purchase archival sleeves to store all originals as well to prevent damage to them.

Also consiider donating the originals to your local Archives ( Museum/Library/and or Family

History center…as they have the facilities and tools to preserve them better .

The really important ones everybody would want to see, in photo albums. Others, which could be copies or not real good photos, in shoe boxes.

Mine are all in albums. I also have a collection of slides which I have kept in their original boxes. I had them digitised but not very successfully. I may try again some day.

I have kept all my 35mm pictures, going, back to the late 70s, along with all the negatives. I bought a scanner that digitally “develops” negatives. I spent a couple months developing them.
