I have scores of books, maybe hundreds, awaiting my attention, some new and some decades old, but I virtually never know what I’m going to read next. Usually I just wait and see what I feel like when I finish my current read. There’s a stack of ten next to my bed and a whole bookcase next to that, many of which are TBR.
I often alternate between heavy and light, and/or fiction and nonfiction, but there’s no system to it. More likely I just reach for a mood and then see what I’ve got that fits it.
I’ve just finished Emily St. John Mandel’s wonderful Sea of Tranquility. Not sure where I’ll go next. Sometimes I just read magazines for a day or two between books. I’m kind of thinking about either a Dickens novel, maybe Bleak House, or another book on Russia.
@canidmajor, I read White Lotus in my twenties and loved it.
@Call_Me_Jay, I think all those big Isaacson biographies are great reads. I hope you enjoy that one as much as I did.
