There is also the opportunity to loot the suckers for campaign contributions he can divert toward defense against the multitude of lawsuits and innumerable state and municipal prosecutions

He can still be prosecuted if the AG approves it.

He can be prosecuted whether he runs or not – that’s not going to delay it.

No, I don’t believe that. His ego wants him to be president again.

@janbb a precedent established by Barr, who prior to his appoinment as AG had proclaimed to all who would listen that a sitting President is immune to prosecution. It was Barr’s surefire salute to toadydom and just the inital act in the self destruction of his former sterling reputation. Nothing good comes from service to the fool.

@HP Yes, but I just read an article yesterday that said that they can be prosecuted if the AG approves it. It was specifically to that point but I’m sick right now and can’t find the article to link.
It was either in the Times or on CNN. So Garland could prosecute him..

@HP This isn’t the article I read that exactly makes that point but it is an interesting discussion of the issues around a potential indictment:

And what about Jenny? Can she duck a subpoena when it comes?

I think it’s mostly the money. He keeps stringing his followers along so they keep up the contributions. If he happens to become president again all the better for him.
