What do people who say that “Live your life” mean? When Oprah for example, says “Live your best life”, what does she mean? What exactly are they saying to do or not do?

I think you should live your life the best way for you that you can. Do right and be a good person by respecting others and playing by the rules. Now I’m sure you’re gonna say that all this is subjective and maybe it is. Your conscience and gut feelings are about all you can base this on. We know murder is wrong but taking care of others is a good thing.

Bob Marley is one of my heroes this is a good start. In the Bronx they say ‘Do You’
but you will find satisfaction in doing for others.’ Never stop learning… take dance
lessons. Art lessons. And so on. Don’t worry about pleasing others or letting others mold you.

It means live for yourself, not how someone else wants you to live.
When Oprah says “live your best life” it does not mean a thing, it’s inspirational word salad nonsense.

Live your life is simple. It’s just a way of pointing out that you only have one life, so you shouldn’t allow others to tell you how to live it.
Live your best life means don’t settle Discover who you can be and be that. Don’t let laziness or discouragement keep you from making your life the best that it can be. If you have disabilities or everyday issues that can get in the way, then find a way to make them work for you or work around it to be the best you. Don’t let the negative voice we all have defeat you in your journey through life.

Of course, this is within reason. For example. Let’s say you have a life goal to make someone your wife but she wants nothing to do with you. So, in this case, you give up and find someone else to love who would reciprocate your feelings.
Being the best you doesn’t mean you get to force your desires on someone else.

At least that is how I have always understood those two things to mean.

According to the definition (given above) of “Live your best life”, you decide what is best for you, no need for psychologists, councellors, your relatives, police, and the rest. Don’t let anyone tell you what to do. Could be someone who gets his/her happiness from punching random people, or being a serial killer,...I guess. Could be Putin and what he’s doing in Ukraine. According to him he is living his best life, he shoudn’t listen to anyone. I know no one means to say that but… (Edited)

@chefl. Blessed question.
There are some people who do not believe in themselves and will never believe in spite of any honours. Some of them carry these phrases through their soul and pay close attention to it. Such people are considered sentimental. And these phrases are addressed to them. They close their eyes for a moment, and a feeling passes through them. Not only for retribution, which many people need, like water or wind, but also to create as unbreakable protection as possible, they need strength. After all, left without faith and being deprived of strength, you lose hope.

It’s pretty self explanatory. Be you. Don’t even try to be someone else.

Do you even know what retribution means?! Because that makes no sense. No one needs retribution! And who needs wind besides a parasailor or a kite flyer?

Strange dude

@Pandora I think you said it best.

I’m pretty sure Bob Marley wouldn’t agree with you. He also talks about doing good.

That’s not me believing it, it’s according to _your definition, Putin would tell you (not me) “You told me to live my best life, and I am, I’m being me”. The serial killer would tell you (not me) the same thing, and so on. I asked you all what the statements mean to you. I never told you all what it means.

Well… this turned out to be great question. Lia Thomas, when asked about possibly
having an unfair advantage said (I’m paraphrasing) ‘I live my best life so I don’t let
the negativity get to me.’ You go girl! Never mind the mangled hopes left in her wake.

@WhyNow So, if someone unfairly takes your spot, your standing in a competition, a job promotion, ...that legitimately should go to you, etc., that’s a good thing?

^^ I was being sarcastic.
