Why did the plastic container from my frozen dinner change color in the oven?

Package said 350° for 48 mins. I did 350° for 50mins.

The plastic container the food was in was black when I put it in, completely white when I took it out.

And yes, I am 100% sure on how long it was in and what temp it was at.

I’ve had that happen to me on several occasions, usually with frozen lasagna from Costco. It seems to be quality of the plastic used in the container, whether by design or by chance I’m not sure.

Okay. I ate it and it tasted fine, but it freaked me out lol.

It was Stouffer’s Cheddar bake. Never had it happen with them.

Are you sure the plastic container was meant to be put into the oven?? I would be leery of it because of the chemicals released when the plastic is heated…

Yes, I cook it in the oven all the time and it has oven instructions.

all you do is vent film, which I did.

Was the color the only difference? did it appear to function the same as all other times you did this.
If so, then it can be attributed to manufacturing difference and substitutes used.
I hope it was equally as tasty.

Does the package have a 1–800 number? You might call the producer and ask them. Maybe it’s an issue they aren’t aware of.

No, it’s actually because I am a dumbass whose brain tricked me into thinking the package was black when I put it in.

The other dinner I bought was white as well.
