One in great or at least very good condition. We are thinking about switching to Verizon but don’t know how they operate and was wondering if you have any experience with them?

Be sure to check out Visible. It uses the Verizon network but is super-cheap. I pay $25/month for unlimited voice/data (though the data is pretty slow). I think a pre-owned phone should be just fine. Check out the battery heath in the menu if possible.

Yes, I have in the past, and the phone worked just fine.

To some degree though it depends on who did the refurbishing of the phone.

I’ve never had Verizon – I have been on T-Mobile for 22 years. Both my daughters moved off of Verizon – one to T-mobile, one to AT&T – because of Verizon’s pricing and low data limits.

I just had a 2 year old mobile that had a swollen battery, through Verizon, they replaced at no cost with a “like new” phone same model and it looks and acts like new.

I am not one for buying pre-owned phones. They typically are refurbished but do not offer much of a warranty. I prefer IPhone bought at the Apple Store and put on AppleCare, not the insurance from the carrier.
I also am not one for Verizon due to their costs and limits.

Oh, ick! Certified pre-owned cooties!

I bought a series of non-certified used phones off eBay. I would get a 1 or 2 year old Motorola or Google Nexus phone for $150 – $200, and sell it in a year or two when the going rate was $100 or so.

My screen is cracked on my Pixel 5a and I am probably going to get a used eBay replacement.

It would depend on what I wanted and how the used price actually compared to a brand new price that includes a full warranty. In general I am not a person who wants or buys used stuff.

I have many friends who use the pre-owned phones & they love them!!! Personally, I’d be sure to take out the insurance on them for he first year or so. I don’t like Verizon, but have been very satisfied with T-Mobile. I have both my phone & my home WiFi through T-Mobile for only $100/mon for BOTH!!! Another thing with T-Mobile, the more numbers you have with them, the bigger the discount.

^^ We have android phones and my mom want to try the new Apple iPhone’s and get a new plan from another carrier (which I don’t know much about) but that’s why I’m trying to get some idea what’s out there.

The people I know who switched to iPhone loved them. Still they bitched about the learning curve until they got the hang of it!!!That’s another thing I didn’t like about Verizon…their phones lacked the bells & whistles that most of the others gave with their phones!!! PLUS, Verizon charges a fee for every little thing that the others don’t!!! I saved $70/mon by switching to TM!!!

I will let my mom know about that and hopefully by next week she’ll decide what we’re going to do. Oh I am starting to get real tired, it’s past my bedtime.

I just turned in my preowned phone and it was still in perfect working condition. The only thing wrong with it was that I like to play games on it and some of the games worked slower. The new one is great but so many things have been added that it has taken me 3 weeks to work out the kinks. My older phone was simpler.
@LadyMarissa My new phone has all the bells and whistles. It’s not always a plus. I just wanted one I could play my games better on. I still don’t use most of the other stuff it has. I take pictures. I read my email and make calls and receive calls. I don’t do purchases on my phone or anything that will make me sweat if I lost my phone or if it was stolen.
I had AT&T for years but then suddenly they started to hike up prices and my service kept crapping out.
I would say check out reviews for service in your area. Ask people around you who they have and how the service works there. When I would visit family my phone sucked when I had AT&T but my husband’s work phone with Verizon always worked fine. So we changed and it does work better for us.
Refurbished stuff gets a bad rap. The thing about refurbished is you can usually tell if its crap or not within a short time. Ask if there is something wrong with it, and how long before you can return it and exchange it. I have purchased new stuff that broke and had to return it.
Actually my new phone may need to have its battery replaced. It warms up too much for my liking.

Nothing wrong with certified pre-owned phones from the manufacturer
