What fruits and veggies do you remove the skin/peel before eating?

Lots of fruits and veggies very obviously people remove the rind or peel before eating. Examples are bananas, melons, and citrus.

I’m interested in fruits and vegetables that are eaten with or without the skin.

Some examples: apples, cucumbers, tomatoes, pears, carrots, potatoes, are just a few I can think of, but those are not examples of produce that I personally remove the skin, I’m just giving examples. I do take the skin off of cucumbers if the cucumber is coated in that icky wax, but others I leave it on.

A friend of mine removes the skin off of her apples. I only do that when I’m making an apple cake. If I eat a raw apple I leave the skin on.

My MIL removes the skin from pears, I would never think to do that.

Oranges, Bananas.

I don’t peel cukes, tomatoes, pears, apples, etc. Half the taste and nutrients are in the outer layer.

Generally only when they wax in the pesticides so they can’t be washed off. The skin is often the best part and as @elbanditoroso points out, a lot of the nutrition lives in the skin.

When I was a kid I used to peel the skin off of grapes. I didn’t like the texture of them.

I took triple peeling an orange to a different phase when I was in my late teens.
I went through a phase where I would peel the epicarp (rind) from an orange.
I would remove any albedo (white pith) that remained. Most was left on the inside of the rind.
This left me with a quantity of little carpels of orange meat.
I would then carefully remove the skin from each carpel.
Only when I had this juicy morsel did I savor the collection of juice follicles.

@Forever_Free how long did it take to harvest an orange in that way?

@elbanditoroso about 5 minutes. To this day I can peel an orange rind intact in one piece quite efficiently.

@Forever_Free My family said that your wish would be granted if you peeled an orange in one piece. Also the wishbone of the chicken or turkey when two people break it the one with the longer piece received a wish too.

Kiwis and Lychees.
What I do not peel is potatoes (except for mash), carrots, cujizzers and ginger.

@ragingloli Try mashing potatoes with the skin left on! Adds some complexity to the taste and a bit of fiber too.

I peel figs.
