How does one get high without taking anything?

“Great Question” (7points)

Right before coming home from school, I started feeling funny. I didn’t do anything or take anything, just got really buzzed by the time I got home. My mom said I look like a zombie. :) I had to go for a walk and I still feel funny. A friend of mine did give me a couple of gummies, she said I looked stressed but I’m not…not now anyway. I didn’t understand why gummies would have anything to do with stress?

Are you kidding? You don’t know the current popular iteration of gummies?

RedDeerGuy1's avatar

They could be drug laced gummies. They are called edibles. They have THC an ingredient in marijuana. A doctor can request a simple blood test for drugs. I would stop eating things from your friend anymore.

janbb's avatar

Yes, sounds like CBD or marijuana gummies.

gorillapaws's avatar

They’re probably cannabis gummies. Do you have the munchies?

cookieman's avatar

Yes, those were edibles. Drug-laced gummies. You should be fine, but I’d be pretty upset with a “friend” who gave me such a thing with warning me.

RayaHope's avatar

But why would my friend drug me? They look and tasted like any other gummies.

RedDeerGuy1's avatar

@RayaHope I don’t know. I only take food or drink from trusted family or professional food servers. My family member says that some people can slip me drugs for any reason, and they are doing that all the time. Usually at pubs, in women’s drinks with date rape drugs, and can slip you anything.

Or giving your friend the benefit of a doubt, you could have had Covid or mild high from the sun or a runners high? I suggest telling your family and getting a drug test from a lab tech. You will need a doctors requisition for the service. It is serious enough not to deal with the situation on your own. I would consider asking your family doctor, and maybe filling a police report.

chyna's avatar

I would ask the friend what was in the gummy.

RayaHope's avatar

@RedDeerGuy1 I thik that’s a good idea. @chyna I will call her now and se whay she says.

janbb's avatar

Talk it over with them. If you are feeling ok now, I wouldn’t get a drug test or go to the police. Aside from everything else, recreational marijuana may be legal in your state. I would have a serious talk with your friend though. She should not have knowingly given you anything that had drugs in it.

JLoon's avatar

Hard to tell because few of us here are medical professionals, and without being there to observe & examine what you’re experiencing all of us are just speculating. It could be any of several things, but it’s likely temoprary and not an emergency.

What you’re feeling could be a short-term surge in your own hormone/adrenaline levels, which can & does happen in females your age. Or it could be something you ingested or were exposed to – Maybe those gummies, but maybe not.

If it’s your own body chemistry you might have already experienced something like this, and could have other episodes in the future. But it’s fairly easy to diagnose and manage with the right meds.

If your friend “accidentally” gave you CBD+THC gummies without telling you exactly what you were eating, you’re probably feeling the weed based buzz. In most cases the sensation wears off in 6 to 7 hours with no lasting effects.

Either way you’ll probably be fine.

But of course I’m only guessing.

So I hope I win something.

Tropical_Willie's avatar

Sounds like you got PUNKED by your friend!

“couple of gummies, she said I looked stressed”

RayaHope's avatar

Oh my, I had to to a nap, a “nap” I don’t take naps! I felt so weird I’m doing better now I think. Everything was like slow motion and going wacky I don’t like that out-of-control feeling. I called my friend I think anyway and she said she didn’t know anything about drugs. My mom can be too smart to figure stuff out. She was gonna ground me but said she’d think about it since I didn’t do anything on purpose. Ugh! I don’t do any kind of drugs so maybe it was something else? I hope it’s not hormones again…

janbb's avatar

@RayaHope Maybe ask your friend where she got the gummies – she may have been fooled too. In any case, as @JLoon says, it’s likely that whatever it is, the effects will wear off soon.

HP's avatar

Who these days hears the word gummies, and assumes it’s the bears?

RayaHope's avatar

@janbb I’m feeling better all the time now. I did ask her but she said she found them in her brothers room and just thought they were regular gummies, they did look like it. So I didn’t think about it since we both give each other little things like that nearly every day and nothing ever happen badly before.

HP's avatar

Where are you in the country? I find this really interesting.

janbb's avatar

@RayaHope I think you have your answer right there – “Found them in her brother’s room.” So now that you’re feeling better, you have an idea of how it feels to get high and have learned not to accept gummies at face value. Your friend might want to take it up with her brother though.

JLoon's avatar

@HP – Go buy your own gummies dood ;)

RayaHope's avatar

@HP I am in Virginia, I think that stuff is legal for medically approved people.
@janbb I don’t know why people like that feeling. ewww It makes me so out of it and like nothing is real.

LadyMarissa's avatar

Edibles (usually in the form of gummies) is a HUGE problem in my area!!! A good friend of mine’s 16 y/o grandson ended up in the hospital because they made him so loopy that he was acting super strange & he swore that he hadn’t taken anything, so his mom took him to the hospital to be checked because she thought he was having a stroke or worse!!! When the test results came back, he had an extremely high concentration of THC in his system. The drug dealers give the gummies to several of the kids with instructions to pass them around to their friends. They hope the kids enjoy getting high & will want to buy some weed from them.

Your friend knew what she had & she knew that she was giving you drugs. You look stressed…here have some gummies. IF she really thought it was just candy, WHY would she steal them from her brother & then think you needed candy to relieve stress??? Chocolate maybe…but NOT gummies!!!

I’d be EXTRA careful before I’d accept anything from her anytime soon!!! I don’t think that she is very trustworthy. First, she gives you drug-laced candy & then she lies about it when you ask her. You may very well be lucky that it was ONLY THC in that candy as it could have been Fentanyl & that crap can kill you!!! You lucked out this time!!!

RayaHope's avatar

@LadyMarissa OMG I am so stressed now more than ever! I really messed up but we gave each other little treats before and nothing happened. Oh, I’m so dumb I’m scared will this come back on me now? Will I get addicted? I don’t want to be a drug addict, will this be okay?

JLoon's avatar

@RayaHope – Stop.

Breathe.

Relax.

Remember we’re ALL speculating. You’re the only one who can really know what happened to you.

But be clear on one thing :
Cannabis products have a low risk of addiction compared to other street drugs, and no one develops dependency from one experience with CBD gummies ( if that’s what caused this episode).

janbb's avatar

@RayaHope I totally agree with what @JLoon said. You will not become addicted even if it was the CBD that caused your high. Don’t obsess about this but just take it as a learning experience. And I disagree with @LadyMarissa for her conclusions about what your friend’s actions or motivations were. We really have no way of knowing. You know your friend best and can talk it out with her.

RayaHope's avatar

@JLoon Sometimes I think when someone tells me stuff like you did I do stop and breathe and try to relax and I do need to get a hold of myself. That helps me focus and start to calm down. I’ll be going to bed soon so I’ll wake up tomorrow morning and go to school and everything will be okay. (fingers crossed)
@janbb I am going to talk to her tomorrow and see if she is truthful. We always got along very well, she’s my number 2 so I think it was just a mistake somehow.

SergeantQueen's avatar

If your friend gave you laced gummies without your consent you need to report her to the police or not associate with her. If this is your first time using that, then that is even more dangerous. What if you had a horrible reaction?

Pretty sure its a felony to fuck around like she did with food.

HP's avatar

@JLoon Never buy it & rarely deliberately indulge. But its everywhere and no event these days is dope free. This renders my addiction to sweets problematic. Cause you never know, and even when you ask, unless it’s the one who brung em you don’t know which goodies are laced. Last week, I was shamelessly gobbling these exoctic flavors of Japanese chocolate bars and well into bump into the furniture giddy before understanding the truth.

Zaku's avatar

No, you will not become an addict from that.

RayaHope's avatar

^^ I feel much better today, I was afraid that I could become hooked on this junk. I hate that crazy feeling and don’t understand why anyone would want to be like that.

jca2's avatar

@RayaHope: That “crazy feeling” is called paranoia and sometimes cannabis has that effect on people.

Zaku's avatar

@RayaHope I myself am quite grateful that I don’t feel like I want to take recreational drugs, either. I wouldn’t want to feel crazy, or out of control, and I especially don’t want to mess myself up in any such way. So I’m very happy I feel no temptation to do so.

However I have known some people who did, and think I understand it a bit. Some people get really upset by their normal state of thoughts/emotions/stress, and find relief in drugs and alcohol because it shuts those things down for a while. So I’m also grateful I’m not miserable like that, and I’m grateful that even when I was depressed, I wasn’t tempted to take refuge in drugs or alcohol.

Forever_Free's avatar

The term Gummies is now synonymous with edible cannabis.
Not very kewl of a friend to not let you know what they were laced with.
Expect about 12–24 hours of effect.

RayaHope's avatar

@Zaku I am so happy you are like me when it comes to that stuff. I would never do drugs that made me feel like that, I can’t stand that uncontrollable feeling and strange thoughts.
@Forever_Free I do feel much better today but I am kinda leery of my surrounding now.

HP's avatar

Believe me, you’re going to bump into this again. I find it rather extraordinary that you made it to adulthood dope free.

RayaHope's avatar

@HP I am a good girl and I don’t do bad stuff. My mom told me a long time ago about drugs and how bad they are so I would never do them.

HP's avatar

Even so, It would not even occur to me possible to arrive at adulthood in contemporary America without experiencing cannabis and its effects. I would have thought your situation today equivalent to my own in growing up with any chance of avoiding cigarette smoke. It never occurred to me back then as either necessary or possible.

RayaHope's avatar

^^ I know the weird smell because I smell it even walking down the sidewalk. But I didn’t smell anything funny with the candy and it looked just like everything else. My household never did any drugs unless it’s the best-kept secrete ever. We don’t do that!

elbanditoroso's avatar

Poppyseeds (like on bagels or bread). They can give you a buzz.

Zaku's avatar

@HP For what definition of “experienced”? I’ve never done any recreational drugs (unless you count alcohol), nor smoked tobacco. I’ve smelled second-hand marijuana, and it smells like dog poop to me.

SnipSnip's avatar

Dancing, climbing a mountain, spiritual fulfillment, and laughing all can give such a feeling.

HP's avatar

@Zaku Experienced is perhaps the wrong word. I suppose I’m trying to say that the stuff is humdrum and commonplace

janbb's avatar

@HP Well, apparently it isn’t for everyone everywhere. Your experience seems to be a very narrow one of this issue.

HP's avatar

sounds about right. My scope of the world narrows daily. Here they will infuse anything edible. You can find everything from barbecue sauce to petit fours dosed up to your liking.

RayaHope's avatar

@HP Where do you live, Hell?

HP's avatar

Of course. As you can see, I suffer terribly and yearn for your life in heavenly Virginia.

LadyMarissa's avatar

@HP Virginia IS Heavenly!!! It sounds to me like you’ve CHOSEN to join the druggies instead of being a good kid, so DON’T knock those that CHOSE a BETTER path!!!

HP's avatar

@LadyMarissa It seems I’ve been disillusioned and Heavenly Va. Is sadly no longer the land of the “safe” gummies

chyna's avatar

@HP Actually, it is Almost Heaven WV. Que John Denver song.
Virginia and WV are two different states.

gorillapaws's avatar

VA is a far cry from heaven, but it’s been improving a lot over the past couple of decades. We finally tore down the civil war memorials on Monument Avenue for example. Marijuana is legal to grow for personal use in small quantities. I don’t think you can legally sell gummies here yet.(though I’ve been living under a rock for the past 18 months or so).

RayaHope's avatar

@gorillapaws You are in Virginia also? How cool is that! :)

HP's avatar

@chyna thank you

LadyMarissa's avatar

@chyna is correct…Virginia is for Lovers & WV is Heavenly. I found VA to be Heavenly when I lived there…then again, that’s where I met most of my lovers!!!

gorillapaws's avatar

@RayaHope Yeah, I’ve been in Richmond for a while now. It’s come a long ways as a city. When I was a kid, I couldn’t wait to grow up and move back to San Francisco, but now I can visit my sister for free and she can pay the $5,500/month rent. ;)

RayaHope's avatar

@gorillapaws NO WAY I’m kinda close to Richmond but I can’t say for sure. My mom said to NEVER tell anyone where you live because there are some people that my stalk you and hurt you. I know better than to do that, but she tells me this all the time.

LadyMarissa's avatar

^^ Listen to your mom…she’s smart!!!

gorillapaws's avatar

Yes. Listen to her. Literally anyone can read these posts, not just the names you see.

HP's avatar

@RayaHope I’m beginning to understand that I’m out of line here. I have no business teasing you. Apologies.

RayaHope's avatar

@HP Do you mean it this time? I was wondering why you always seem to beat me up when we meet here. I’m not really a fighter and I just want a little respect. I know I’m still trying to learn stuff but please go easy on me.

LadyMarissa's avatar

Teasing is only fun when you’re the one doing it!!!

HP's avatar

@RayaHope Have there been other times? THIS time I mean it sincerely. Were you once that butterfly?

HP's avatar

@LadyMarissa Do you actually believe that? If you manage to encounter a professional clown or even a comedian, ask their opinion on this. Teasing can be cruel and is decidedly hurtful if you mistakenly tease a child in a manner appropriate to a full fledged adult. That is a particularly onerous form of bullying. Come to think of it, it is wrong to tease anyone incapable of appreciating they are being teased. The revelations here involving that one are many and surprising.

RayaHope's avatar

@HP Yeah I’m the one you tore apart for using the word “just” in a question. Please don’t hurt me anymore. I’m really trying.

LadyMarissa's avatar

@HP YES, I believe that!!! Listen to @RayaHope as she did NOT find your teasing funny nor was it mildly amusing!!! Clowns & comedians usually know when to BACK OFF!!! When they push it too far, they lose their following. Michael Richards is NO longer working as a comedian because he didn’t know where to STOP!!!

HP's avatar

That is what I now understand and the reason for the apology. If you consider my comments above hurtful, that is a genuine surprise to me. Perhaps you should explain just which comment offends you or the green person, that I might avoid them in the future. Actually I would appreciate an answer on this from each of you. Thanks.

RayaHope's avatar

@HP I thought I explained all that in our PM. Please go back and re-read that first. Basically (to me) you were saying that I am dumb for not knowing English and asking if it was my second language. A misunderstanding is one thing but then you went and tried to muster up support by asking other jellies about how wrong it was for me to use that word in my question. As if you were trying to gang up on me with other people here. Even AFTER you said you would stop and supposedly felt bad!

HP's avatar

That’s why I apologized. The question was not a put down. I genuinely wanted to know. And rather than ganging up on you, I merely wanted to know if anyone other than myself misunderstood the sentence as written. In this thread I had forgotten you were that butterfly, or I assure you, I would not have engaged you at all. This I admit is solely my fault, but I would still appreciate an explanation as to which passages above offend you or @LadyMarissa, and assure you that any hurt you might find in them was not intentional.

RayaHope's avatar

@HP Okay, your very first comment makes me sound like I should JUST know that all gummies are drugged. The second comment is pretty much the same. Then a later comment suggesting that I should have known about drugs as if I’m supposed to be on drugs since I’m a teenager. Then ”Here they will infuse anything edible. You can find everything from barbecue sauce to petit fours dosed up to your liking That is why I asked if you live in Hell because ”*Here they will infuse anything edible” like WOW! Then you make fun of where I live like it’s “make believe land” I said enough I am getting very sad and worked up talking to you and I should know better. I’m shaking and that is NOT a good sign for my illness.

HP's avatar

You don’t believe that I might actually be surprised that a young person anywhere in America would be unaware of laced gummies? I’m not saying that you should know and have experienced drugs. On the contrary, I regard it as all but miraculous that you have not. And take my word that I read your comment on my life in hell as teasing me, nothing more. My reply to that is simply teasing you back and rather mildly at that. Trust me that I meant it when I said I have no business teasing you. I did not realize that you were serious when you quizzed me on my life in hell. I apologize again and will pain you no more.

RayaHope's avatar

@HP Thank you so much because I don’t want to go through another seizure like I just did a little while ago. You got me so upset.

HP's avatar

I apologize for my mistakes, and promise you I will not forget. Take care.
