“Great Question” (4points)

They’re native to the US and can be found in many east coast forests. Where I live, they’re all over the park by my house. My dog keeps finding them on walks, and we have to keep pulling them out of his mouth. Apparently they taste like a combination of mango and banana or something like that.

Have you ever eaten one? What did you think? Have you ever tried something made with pawpaw? Beer? Jams? Pie?

I also made this Paw Paw song.

@Forever_Free What did you think of them? Catchy tune though I suspect it’s not going to make it into my personal collection.

Count your lucky stars, they’re wonderful….if you can find them.

@gorillapaws I eat them when I find them hiking. Similar to finding and eating fresh wintergreen, berries, ramps, etc..
Be one with your natural food. Know what you can and cannot eat.

Yes and I know of a couple breweries that uses Pawpaw in their beers.

Where oh where is dear old Nellie?
Sorry about that. I got carried away.

I’ve never eaten a Pawpaw fruit. Maybe I will someday. Or not.
I planted 6 Pawpaw trees in my yard (PNW) 15 years ago. They have gotten big and produce flowers each Spring. But have never produced fruit. Looks like they aren’t getting what they need to generate fruit. Wish I knew what to provide to them for them to make them happy.

….Way down yonder in the Pawpaw patch! HA!

I did not know pawpay is a fruit until recently, despite growing up in West Michigan where the town of Paw Paw sits.

We knew the town because of the local TV commercials for Deer Forest petting zoo.

I’ve tried them, but the consistency always gets me. Maybe it was just the ones I had, but they had a vague pudding consistency I didn’t care for.
