You’re not using electricity because they aren’t providing it. So you won’t pay the per KW cost.

Do you get charged for days they aren’t providing anything?

Electricity is pretty straight forward, because you aren’t using the power, although maybe there are access fees that are charged anyway? I never paid attention and I’ve been through a lot of hurricanes.

It’s the cable companies that might keep charging you even if their service isn’t working, and I have had companies credit me days their service is out. I don’t always call to get the credit. Some companies issue credits without asking for the days they are down.

You shouldn’t be billed, but if the power is out for a few days it probably won’t make a huge differece in the bill.

In the past, when we’ve had hurricanes here in NY, the cable company says you can call for fredit, but that, also is minimal and not worth the time it takes to make the call, go through the prompts, be on hold, etc. If the home phone works but the cable and internet is out for a few days, that’s only a portion of a portion of the bill, since it’s pro-rated.

Trying to remember what went down in Texas when that ice storm hit. I have the impression that people were hit with huge bills for no service but I could be wrong.
