Update Edit The Google says that Alex Jones Is worth $900 million dollars. So after the settlement he would be worth -$65 million dollars.

I think the ruling said nothing about him to stop his network (which I won’t name), which is his biggest cash-cow.
Apparently he still has great support from his fans.
They buy the darndest products from him (which I will not note).

Mind boggling that he can make so much money.

He is not worth anywhere near that.

I think the families are happy to have had their day in court.

Is he ordered to cease a desist? Can he be prosecuted in the criminal courts. As far as I’m concerned his rhetoric is physical assault at this point. He is now well aware his words physically affect the parents.

As far as I can tell, he is still able to spew conspiracy B.S. all he wants, there are just consequences in doing so now.

I read today that his his network company is supposedly valued at about $270 million.

Justice would be for it all to be dispersed amongst his victims, and his similar abuses halted.

It is illegal to slander. That’s what he was doing. I assumed that’s what the award is for. Wasn’t it a defamation case?

He also was influencing others resulting in the families being harassed. Maybe he can’t be held responsible for that? I don’t know. I guess that’s difficult to do in court. That’s the problem with trying to prosecute Trump for influencing or leading the people who breached the Capitol on January 6th.

Unless he has put some sort of official disclaimer stating to the effect that what is said on his show is strictly for entertainment, A.K.A. “bullshit” then what he has done is in fact, defamation and technically illegal.

@JLeslie As far as I know, he did engage in illegal activity. You do not have the right to direct a campaign of harassment against people and spread lies about them that accuse them of crimes and encourage further harassment. Some people are trying to make this a first amendment issue. It’s not.

^^Oh, I see. Some people are calling it free speech. Amazing how so many people don’t understand what free speech means in America, and the primary reasons for having free speech. It’s not to be able to harm people with lies; that’s not protected. It’s primarily to be able to speak out against the government without being jailed or murdered by the government.

People give the fire in a movie theatre example, but even more importantly is the government thing, and reporting the truth in general, reporting news worthy events with accuracy. Freedom of speech and freedom of the press.

So it turns out Alex Jones was a huge cash cow for the families he slandered and harassed.
Once they take his cash, he will just be a huge cow.
