Take some binoculars. No matter where you sit, they can really help.

You’d do best to look at a seating map of the hall and try to determine how far away from the stage you would be. But I agree with @snowberry that binoculars would certainly help.

Balcony can feel very high depending on the theatre, but it’s better than nothing if that is your only choice. Is it your only choice?

Dance shows it’s obviously nice to be able to see well. One advantage of high up is you see the patterns the dancers make, although it might be harder to see the footwork.

The nutcracker is telling a story. Ooh, read the story before going if your daughter doesn’t know it already. Or, just tell it to her if you know it.
