Why do people on Fluther reach for conclusions about questions?

Why is it so hard to see the neutrality in a question? Why do people so consistently assume that the questioner has taken a certain position which they have not, and then answer that assumption while ignoring the actual question?

This is one of my biggest complaints about this site, especially if you’ve been here a long time like I have. They can’t take the question for what it is. They insist that everything you said years ago is relevant and must be included.

I don’t know why some people do this. They think they are being helpful I guess. (Shrug)

This is a question and answer site, not an endless debate site. There is nothing wrong with seeking an exact definite truth to a question.
