I went through bankruptcy almost 2 years ago. I used cash and my debit card for a while, and saved up for a new car. I put a down-payment that was more than half the value of the vehicle. This helped me get approved and lowered my monthly payment, so now I send extra (often more than double what's due).
About 6 months ago, I got a credit card. I was able to get one unsecured. I use it for gas and other purchases, including the iPhones, , and pay in full every month. I also kept a couple store cards from before the bankruptcy, and I have always paid those in full.
I will soon get a little money from an inheritance, and I will start looking to get a mortgage to purchase my first home. I am hopeful that by paying extra and not having too many lines of credit, someone will give me a reasonable deal. I'll be watching the replies here for additional advice!
