Could you handle having the life of a Superstar?

“Great Question” (3points)

Whether it’s in movies, sports or music. I don’t know how they can handle the stress and fame that comes with it. I’m sure I couldn’t do it. People would recognize you wherever you go, you would need to hide or go places incognito.

Nope. As a kid I had the normal dream of wanting to become the world’s biggest rock star. I now thank God every night that didn’t happen. No thanks! I did find success in music as an adult, just not international superstarsdom. Had a few band, still play and perform today, just not famously. Again, thank God for unanswered prayers. Actually, God did answer my prayers. Instead of making me a superstar as I prayed, He showed me where I truly belong.

No, it looks horrible! Practicing your craft, balancing home life, exercise and beauty regimen’s, constant travel. Then stalkers and the paps, zero privacy.

NoMore's avatar

No. I value my anonymity to much. Wouldn’t mind having their bank account though.

Never. I’m an introvert who loves their privacy.

I’m no superstar but I live in a small town and whenever I go to the downtown I always see someone I know.

I think I could. The one thing that would really dissuade me is if it made me feel unsafe.

Where I live I’m constantly recognized. I give presentations to audiences of about 100 people. I teach zumba. I perform at various events and social clubs. I’m the administrator for multiple local Facebook groups. I’m recognized all of the time.

When I think of a superstar, I think of mega famous celebrtities. I think of the scrutiny that they’re under, especially now, with everyone holding a camera constantly and filming everything. I think of how the ultra famous are expected to look perfect every time they step out in public. Even if they’re taking a walk in the park with a baseball hat on, they’re photographed. Everyone comments on their appearance, their weight, their clothing, their demeanor, all over social media.

I couldn’t take it.

I also don’t think that a popular “regular” person in any way, shape or form compares to the life of a superstar. Maybe some who are popular think of themselves as superstars but that’s kind of delusional.

JLeslie's avatar

@jca2 Agree that it doesn’t really compare, but my only point with what I wrote, is people come up to me all of the time who I don’t know and I don’t mind taking the time to talk to them.

As far as the scrutiny, I luckily don’t deal with scrutiny really, and that’s one reason I wouldn’t go into politics is scrutiny. I agree superstars deal with that too, and it would be a huge negative. Not only dealing with photos of me in yoga pants and no make-up, but also scrutinizing everything I’ve done or said. Stressful.

It’s not easy.

No, I couldn’t stand the meanness and cattiness and just overall ill will that people have for celebrities.
Have you noticed the amount of young Tik Tokers that have committed suicide? They are sudden celebrities with too much money and too much scrutiny.

Dig_Dug's avatar

@chyna Yes I have, that is a big reason that inspired this question.
@JLeslie You have a class on Facebook?

NO…I value my privacy way too much to be famous!!! Some of the famous have NO problem going out unrecognized especially now that we have all the filters available to us for our pics. I ran into a site that shows the before & after of superstars & several were so different that their own Mother wouldn’t recognize them!!! They are also so pampered that they lose any contact with reality. Then when they lose their status, they don’t know how to deal with life!!! The average person feels that they “have it made” because they can buy anything that they want. The suicide rate in the superstar world begs to differ. They feel that they have nothing & no one who cares. They have handlers whose job is to convince them to do what will make them more famous…NOT what’s good for them!!!

I also don’t want to be rich. Truly rich people are miserable people in that they have NO idea who they can trust. Everybody fawns all over them, but ALL they want is access to their money…even family!!! They don’t even know if their spouse loves them for being them or loves their money more!!!

@Dig_Dug No, the zumba class is in person.

tinyfaery's avatar

Sure. I’d just be an eccentric recluse who only comes out to have fun and fuck shit up.

Blackwater_Park's avatar

There are big advantages to being an average person living in reality.

Part of me would LOVE to be famous, but I know it would crush me especially with my issues. But I could dream!
