Safety alert

White supremacists are anticipated to be demonstrating in Sumter County this weekend, possibly in The Villages. Sumter County Sheriff’s Lt. Tom Ford said today.

Sheriff’s officers are monitoring and ready to respond, he said.

At this time, the Sheriff’s Department believes the demonstration will be the waving of banners at unspecified locations, Ford said.
The Sheriff sent an alert was sent to Temple Shalom in Oxford, which will receive increased law-enforcement presence.

Temple Shalom President Dennis Roth advised congregants to report any troubling activity to the Sheriff’s Department and not to engage the demonstrators.

I then also saw a post today that they were expected to have dinner in the town adjacent to where I live Friday night. I went out Friday night and I saw a guy with a t-shirt saying “Super MAGA” and maybe I was paranoid, but there seemed to be a lot of 30–40 year old white men who made me uneasy. I just wondered if there is an uptick right now of these gatherings.
