I know variations of this question abound on Fluther, but they’re good ones.

I was reminded of cavil: to make petty comments. For example, “He cavilled about my new hat and shoes. Really! So what if I put them on a credit card.”

Someone was saying they were digging post holes for a fence, that is auger, they misspelled it.

Supine: the opposite of prone.

I went on a mental inventory check for it because it didn’t show up at once when I retrieved prone. I don’t remember why I thought of prone. It took about twenty minutes for supine to surface.

I do vocabulary checks on myself all the time because words are very distressingly slipping away.

Equanimity
I read a short article in last month’s Scientific American that was all about equanimity in what may be described as the Buddhist sense of the word. The article pointed to several studies in meditation which showed the importance of calmly accepting whatever feelings you may have had regarding a particular incident and only then think about how to deal with the the incident.
