Amazon is too busy sending stuff out that they don’t care about stuff lost in transit.

I caught our UPS guy in a clever scheme: reprint the label for an Amazon delivery box A, steal box A , stick the label on Amazon box B. When the customer A gets box B (with incorrect stuff), Amazon will generate a free return label and resend the stuff. The guy reprints the label for box B and sticks it over the return label when he comes back to pick up the “return merchandise”. Customer B gets their stuff a day late. Customer A gets their stuff in the resend shipment. UPS guy gets box A on day one. I was on the phone with UPS telling them about the scam when he came to pick up. They did nothing. I noted that to Amazon, they did nothing either. I didn’t think to take a picture of label A on top of label B, which was the key to seeing the scheme.

I don’t know about in Hawaii, but here the PO will sneakily deliver the TV while you blink your eyes. If they do, you can request that UPS picks it up at your location when you initiate the return label.

They write it off, if it’s delivered returns are easy.

I had UPS pick up a return for something that wasn’t received and id requested it be sent again, and then the first one arrived, late, so i then had two. After UPS picked up and I got the credit, there was money deducted from my credit for the return shipping cost.

I just wanted to add to the above comment that the money deducted from the return via UPS was $8, and the item was a fish tank cover so it was a wide box, about 40” x 40”. Not sure if UPS/Amazon charges by weight or size or is it just one set price, regardless. The weight was lightweight, maybe just a few lbs including box. The size was smaller than the average TV box.

The note on the app now says the package may be lost. The answer to my question is yes, Amazon will declare a package lost after 26 days.

This saga has an ending.

To my great surprise, the app announced the TV was “out for delivery” yesterday morning. I was floored. This was a month after I ordered it.

The tracking on the package never changed. It only said that it had been picked up. There was zero movement in the tracking. Then yesterday morning, the tracking said it arrived in Honolulu.

It turns out Amazon shipped it through USPS using their new Ground Advantage service. I’ve had other packages come with that service, and they always take a long time, and they always show movement in the tracking. My complaint about that is I was a prime member when I purchased the TV. I should have received 2-day shipping.

Amazon knows I’d already received a refund, and the app asked me to ship it back. They gave me a shipping label. I printed it, taped it over the other label to me, and took it to UPS.

What a ridiculous drama! Even the Amazon app thought the package was lost.

That’s a great ending, @Hawaii_Jake. I’m curious what if you weren’t able to bring the package to the USPS office, for example, if you had no transportation or if you were elderly and infirm. Would their label have paid for USPS to pick it up from your house?

There are sometimes when I order from Amazon, and even with Prime it doesn’t give 2 day shipping, which is annoying because that’s what I pay my membership for.

I placed an order yesterday for five things, and it gave me two choices, arrive on Sunday or arrive on Saturday, which would be 2 day shipping. I chose Saturday, because why do 3 days when I can get (and have paid for) 2 day? I don’t know what that logic was.

The item arrived by USPS. The return label was for UPS. I suppose I could have requested they pick it up.
