Ha. My ticker is the only thing that works properly. I leave it alone, it seems to take good care of itself no matter how the rest of me behaves.

Meds, my BP is 110 / 62, pulse rate 60 and Cholesterol is 138.

By walking the dog every day.

Meds and logical thinking. Calculating everything I eat now because of the stupid blood sugar crap I’ve battled this year. For example I just ate one of the set of 2 Hostess Swiss Cake rolls. And I calculated. Not sure exactly I was calculating, but I did it. Did good too.

I have an appointment with a cardiologist, sometime next year.
Nothing serious, just part of my transplant experience. I now have a special doctor, for several organs.

I recently found out I have moderate aortic regurgitation. I had an echocardiogram eight years ago and it was found to be mild at that time.

I’ll need an echocardiogram every one to two years to watch for progression. I also need to watch for signs. Fatigue, shortness of breath, flutter heartbeat and chest pain. I’m currently experiencing some of these symptoms so I’m doing my best to eliminate stress from my life. I lost my health insurance due to losing my job. When my regurgitation becomes severe I’ll need open heart surgery to repair/replace the valve.

^^ A little good news – you may not have to have open heart surgery. I had to have my aortic valve replaced and had a TAVR procedure (transaortic valve replacement). They threaded a new valve (cow) up through my groin and placed it over the bad valve. Little to no recovery time.

@jonsblond Hopefully you get health insurance through Medicaid.

-Drugs.
-24 hr BP monitor recently.
-Stress test and echo once a year.
-Zumba and dancing.
-Slightly less “bad” food. It would be better if it was a lot less.
-Park towards the end of parking lots.
-Disney for the walking. :)
-Deep breaths several times a day.

Parking far = fewer door dings but more riffraff.

@RocketGuy Depends on the parking lot. At night I would try to park closer and try to walk with or near someone even in good areas.

@JLeslie @RocketGuy is super ugly, so nobody wants to mess with him.

@Caravanfan Do men even worry about walking in a parking lot in a “safe” area at night. Nowhere is safe the way I was raised.

The last guy test tried to mug me, I injured so badly I had to call the police to search for him in case he died. He could barely walk, when he tried to run away.
I didn’t pursue him, as I was no longer a LEO. But I didn’t want to charged with murder, if he died. So I reported it.

A male friend of mine, was robbed at gun point in a 24 hr Walmart parking lot at night.

When I used to bounce, I would sometimes wait up for the bar tenders, so they weren’t leaving the bar at 3AM with cash.

I have to say, every time I hear about a young woman last seen jogging, I shake my head…
It’s pathetic, that the world is the way it is.
A big problem I see nowadays, is people always wearing ear buds so they can’t hear their surroundings.

@JLeslie I spent several years in Berkeley and San Francisco and have walked through many bad areas of town. Do we worry? Sure, but it’s not like women.

And I was kidding about @RocketGuy He’s not ugly, only mildly offensive.
(He and I have been friends for 45 years)

Well I worry! A BF from college wanted to go walking by the river in Wichita…at night! I went but I was scared shitless the whole time.
Rick took me walking down some alleys in KC at night once. Every warning light in me went off!
Neither of them were the least bit perturbed.

Beta blocker and living in a multi level home, bedroom upstairs and everything else in 2nd or 3rd levels.
