I was told it cant affect a dead persons credit so let it all settle for at least a year before paying any bills you get. Insurance usually takes awhile to clear it all.

The person working in the billing department, may not work for ambulance company, by law (HIPPA), may not know anything about diagnosis, outcome or death.

The ambulance company addressed it to her because they transported her, she was not deceased yet. They probably don’t know she is deceased.

When someone refers to an estate, that means the finances of the deceased. You may not think of it as “an estate” but that’s what her finances are, an estate.

I wouldn’t pay it. They can’t make you pay it. You are not responsible for her bills. They may bug you for it, but tell them she is deceased and you can provide proof, and they will wipe it off their books.

I should have clarified, they could not save her so no transport was done by them. Only the county Coroner

I understand maybe if HIPAA kicks in. But when the paramedic said they could not save her, and there was no transport, it just confuses me that wouldn’t have been documented. But HIPAA blah blah. Maybe also because the coroner is the only one that can pronounce death.

And with my mom, zero bills came in as due after that year of waiting.
