I’m looking for open source or other solutions to manage a controlled RFP process. Specifically, I want 5000 vendors to be able to register with basic profile information, and then I want new customers to be able to submit RFP’s and watch proposals roll-in from the 5000 vendors over time. Ideally would like RFP submitters to be able to compare proposals from different responders side by side. Anyone aware of anything like this?

LoL. I had a boss that asked me to do something like that once. I would say that you could probably roll your own, but I don’t know of anything that’s already built.

A project of that size and scope needs to undertake it’s own business case analysis and shouldn’t be decided upon in an ad-hoc manner. My gut answer would be that any solution you get won’t be an ‘out of box’ but be a combination of enterprise software, middleware/extensions, and custom programming to suit your needs.

Some Googling yielded Aivea RFP Manager.

I suspect this is more commonly implemented as a customised addition to an enterprise software portal, like SAP, or as a pure web project it can work as an online database served through a a combination of CMS and DB technologies.

Strongly recommend you find an IT wizard familiar with enterprise software, preferably in-house to assist you with your efforts!
