I agree with Obama and Ron Paul that we cannot keep dumping money we don’t have into Middle East conflict and Halliburton’s pockets. I see more similarities to Ron Paul’s good sense and general concern for mankind in Obama than McCain.
If there is no way around massive government spending (I am not convinced that Washington would allow Ron Paul to cut off it’s head) then I want money to go to the things Obama said; Health Care, Education, Infrastructure. I can’t say I agree with Obama regarding fissile energy, John Edwards has it right nuclear is a bad idea, it has always lost money and has always been dangerous, any money from the government should go towards replacing it. Obama talks about shedding lobbyists, and I like that, I think we should give him a chance and hold him to it. Also when any candidate is talking about their tax plan I think they should have a chart, a picture is worth a thousand words. It’s important to note that Obama is not raising the very rich’s taxes, he’s letting the Bush tax cut expire, if McCain gets his way the top tax bracket would receive almost a million more in tax breaks than in 2001.
@tWrex; I served in the army for three years as a Paratrooper, I did sign up after the towers, and I wanted to live up to my unit’s heroic action in WW2. You may have known my kind as “9/11 babies” but my time in Iraq taught me more about waste of resources and greed than protecting the innocent. I wave and honk for the protesters because they want the best for our country and military; a better home with our troops in it. Why not bring them back home and have military Doctors in the VA? Have engineers shore up levees and build bridges. Have our military ready to respond to natural disasters, be there to deploy to stop oppression and violence and make a more peaceful world. The military was better when it took care of itself and wasn’t forced to rely on contractors who don’t understand honor or duty, it’s just a job that pays well to them. The war is robbing everyone on earth, it has stretched us all thin so fat cats can rake in the money, that’s not what I signed up for, and that’s why I oppose it now. No-one is saying you are not a hero, we are saying our heroes are being abused.
