The other thing to consider JunkCult is that she’s not the fiscal conservative she claims to be.
- she spent $14.7 million on a hockey arena as Mayor of Wasilla, a town with an annual budget of $20 million (any CEO who spent 3/4 of their annual budget on recreation would be fired immediately).
– she OK’d a bond issue for the land for the hockey arena before the land purchase was agreed to, ultimately costing taxpayers 6 times what they would have paid had she gotten her ducks in a row, and then hiked taxes 25% to pay for it (only so many times your customers will take price increases before they go to a competitor).
– Alaska ranks #1 in annual Federal spending per resident ($13,950) even though tax revenues from each resident rank #18 ($5,434) (No one is going to subsidize a business in this way and stay in business for too long).
– She campaigned on being for the bridge to nowhere before she changed her mind (after Congress defeated it), but kept the Federal funds she’d already gotten for it (might fly in government, not so much in the business world).
– Even though she says she sold her predecessor’s jet plane on ebay for a profit, she actually sold it to a campaign contributor for a $600,000 loss, and now the buyer is seeking a $50,000 reimbursement for maintenance costs (not exactly a good deal from the standpoint of a head of a company).
I personally wouldn’t hire her, unless I needed someone to field dress a moose.
