Can I apply the Palin principle to my answers on Fluther?

“Great Question” (19points)

So, everyone expected (rather, predicted) an F- performance by Governor Palin tonight. Since she did better than that (perhaps a C), she is being lauded in some circles. I would like to know if I can translate that to my answers on Fluther? Let me remind everyone that I am naive and ignorant, but ready to answer!

From here on out, if I can string together a complete sentence or two, I deserve a GA. Thanks.

And you got it.
Well, a GQ anyway.

well you see as i was saying sarah palin is a jerk. also.

emilyrose's avatar

i think that means also that we should just say whatever we want even if it doesn’t apply to the question.

If you set the figurative bar low enough, people won’t notice it. But once you make that amazing-super-record breaking-awesome-dope-cool jump over it, people will be praising you with rice, flowers, and a parade.

Hell. I could set the bar so low for myself that anything I do would be a major accomplishment. But that wouldn’t be fun, now would it?

By the way, I really like the term that you came up with:

Sample wiki article?

Palin Principle: The Palin Principle states that the illusion of great achievement is created by lowering expectations.

Well, the Americans I am speaking with and I are ill about this. Answers can’t just be about the… the idea of speaking is to understand that which is being spoken… so… so… you see there is more to it than just that. But it also has to be about the ideas. Ideas about what happened that day, and understanding. Those and the world of language, which all fall under this umbrella of… of energy. Because when it comes down to it, I and the next president of the United States, John McCain are not going to tolerate any hate filled, fear mongering, head-rearing terrorists and their verbose answers. So.. So.. I think it is safe to say that that which can be seen is what is important, and everything else is just lipstick on a pitbull.

In order to pull this off Shilolo, you are going to have to spend a couple of weeks giving answers like: “cheese,” “ducks fly west for the winter,” “Johnny Sixpack is a maverick.” Then you will have affectively lowered the bar for yourself. Once that is done you can answer questions like “American (fill in the blank)?” with “cheese.” and you will be given a record number of “Great Answers.”

You have a pretty strong stigma of being smart and well spoken you are going to have to overcome if you want to make this thing work.

Ya know, lemme get back to ya on this

Did I mention that John and I are mavericks?

Only if you work “you betcha” or…“Say it ain’t so, Joe” into the sentence or sentences.

lmfao you got a GQ from me!

Don’t forget that if you don’t want to answer a question on Fluther, you can always go off on some topic that’s only tangentially related (if at all) to the question at hand. And when someone points out that you’re not answering the questions, just say, “I may not answer the questions that you want to hear, but I’m going to talk straight to the American people.”

like this.

I guess what I am trying to say is that by building up a base level of back ground colors first, your fore ground imagery will be better supported by the filler.

Make all of the jokes you want. To me, she spoke like a genuine person. I don’t know where you all hang out, but Palin is one of us. Home Depot Joe just wishes he was….

El_Cadejo's avatar

please tell me your joking sueanne tremendous
“Palin is one of us” that insults my intelligence.

Nimis's avatar

You’re shafted, Shilolo.
We’re already got you pigeon-holed for being pretty much awesome.
Sucker.

skfinkel's avatar

@sueanne: Palin is one of us if you happened to go to her high school. Then you could work with her. Otherwise, not.

Bri_L's avatar

@ – Sueanne Tremendous – Even if I agreed that she was genuine, which I don’t as I have cited on other threads. She used the exact same tactics she has in every debate prior, I could never vote for someone with such an obvious lack of knowledge. She outright said “I may not answer the questions you want or the moderator wants”. That was quoted in one of the articles about previous debates. To me that isn’t genuine. She did the only thing she could, she used tactical tricks to cover up a gross lack of knowledge and understanding.

I know a lot of genuine people. That doesn’t qualify them to be one improper palpitation away from the big white house.

She is not one of my people.

well i don’t want to comment on this question, but i would just like to say that i’m just like everyone else, and my family is just a normal average middle class American family, and America is the Best country in the world (God bless America) so I deserve a GA for all of my well-strung together sentences too and also the ones where I forget the military commanders name and call him something else, because even when I do that I’m very poised. Even Joe Biden would agree to that. He said so before he was running with Barack Obama.

omfgTALIjustIMDu's avatar

@la chica gomela: you mean O’Biden?

La_chica_gomela's avatar

Hahahaha,
Well you know, TALI, I may not answer the questions the way that you want me to, but I’m just going to give the American People the straight talk. I’m just going to talk to them and tell them what’s really going on. Because I’m not a Washington insider, I’m just a normal middle class American, just like you and Joe, Joe sixpack, that is.

omfgTALIjustIMDu's avatar

I’m assuming that makes you a maverick?

emilyrose's avatar

maybe she thinks joe biden’s name is joe sixpack.

La_chica_gomela's avatar

It’s a team of mavericks, Tali. There’s no i in team. I know, because I looked it up.

shilolo's avatar

There’s no I in team, but there is a ‘me’.

La_chica_gomela's avatar

I just want to point out that there’s no “I” though, and I think that’s what’s more important to the American people.

La_chica_gomela's avatar

I also want to add that the heels are on, the gloves are off!
(My new favorite Palin quote of all time)

shilolo, you beat me to it.
