Bergman goes a lot of different directions over his career. You should try 'Fanny and Alexander' to match the scope and the familial depths of Scenes. If you want to really dig in, he's perhaps at his best (well, leaving aside the amazing 'Wild Strawberries') in his trilogy on faith: 'Through a Glass Darkly', 'Winter Light', and 'The Silence'. The second, especially, anticipates some of the brutal intimacy of the relationship in 'Scenes'. Boiled down to only two hours, it is extremely potent and just about his best work.
