@dd: Everyone, everywhere on the internet only tells you what they want you to know, that’s not restricted to Fluther. knowing someone’s physical location tells me nothing about who they are, I have a friend who lives down the street from me, I don’t know what the hell she thinks about abortion, I know a helluva lot of people’s opinions here. I also have friends of all ages, I don’t think age matters either.
I also think that the restriction of personal information is a benefit to the Fluther community. It allows those subconscious little judgments we make based on limited information to just plain not happen. You’ve mentioned on many occasions that you have what would be considered an alternative lifestyle, maybe people who wouldn’t normally give you the time of day have overlooked their prejudices to see what you had to say instead, albeit unwittingly. Maybe after discovering such information about you they might be inclined to reconsider their values? I know at least one person on here who has done just that.
Did something happen a while back? Ever since the regime/regimen/regiment discussion it seems like you’re posts have become very bitter. I apologize if that seems mean, but, I think the tone of your post’s have changed dramatically. And what’s so hard about ignoring their corrections of your post when you suggest they ignore your mistakes? What’s up?
In the future, though it may have been unintentional on your last post you might want to consider phrasing your rebuttals a little more gently, just yelling NO well, it made me almost just ignore the rest.
