For anyone who wants to, you know, look.

I’m going with the black version of the Canon. Better aperture, better megapixels. The sony has a better options for shutter speed, but I doubt that anyone really ever needs a 30 exposure. My experience with sony cameras isn’t good, Cannon has been better for me.

I recommending the Cannon (in black). I also want to hear what others have to say.

I agree with TheBox193. Go with the Cannon.

Same here. If there’s no Nikon to chose then it’s Canon. My personal experience with Sony cameras haven’t been positive either.

But feature-wise, which one is better?

Well, my feelings are, feature for feature, the SONY outshines the Cannon as far as I can see. Reputations of companies aside, what do people think?

While features maybe nice to look at, you should be asking will it make a difference in taking a great picture. I have found that some of these “better” or “great” features can be a hindrance. If all you want is features then go for the Sony. If you want to know if these make a difference then go for the Canon. It sounds like you’ve made up your mind you just want us agree.

No, I keep going back and forth. But somewhere in the specs it should show which is the better camera and why. You can’t white wash ALL cameras of any particular brand just because of the brand. While I thank you for your response, you’ve only given me generalities. When you say “some of these “better” or “great” features can be a hindrance”, what does that mean? What does that mean specifically to the 2 cameras I ask about?
BTW, Consumer Reports rates the SONY number 1.

I like the PowerShot better.

1. I agree with everyone else, Canon is a great camera brand whereas Sony isn’t. You’ll probably just get better pictures from the Canon.

2. I give a lot of importance to zoom. The PowerShot has a better optical zoom, which is what I care about.

3. I don’t really care about megapixels at that level because the difference between 13.6 and 14.7 isn’t going to be noticeable unless you want to blow the pictures up to, like, the size of your wall practically. (Okay, so that might be a slight exaggeration.) But even so, the PowerShot has more.

Other than that they are basically the same for the stuff I happen to look at. Ultimately, the differences aren’t really huge so I would probably look at the cameras and see which was easier to use and felt better in my hand. But probably I’d go with the PowerShot as long as it wasn’t just awful to hold or something.
