I put items in my amazon cart and the prices went up - any chance they will go back down before Christmas?

I just put this stuff in there at like 11:00, and at 2:15, I noticed my total went up by $30 because they changed the prices! I was burning up mad!! Especially mad, because the only reason I didn’t just go straight to buying them is because I noticed a promotion, where I could get another thing for free, and I was wandering around amazon trying to find the right thing. Well apparently, that promotion also ended at 2:00, so now I’m mad as hell that my total went up so much AND i have no free thing, all because they TOLD me i could have a free thing. ughh, and I don’t want to buy this junk at all, but it’s what my mom wants, and I know she just has to have this one, so should I just go ahead and buy them now before the price goes up again? Or is there any chance it’ll go down if I wait? Thanks!!

I wouldn’t bet on it. But that’s just my pessimism.

Try clearing your cookies on you computer. On line stores (and airlines) do this all the time. They’ll put a cookie on your system for that item. If you go back, then the price will be more because they know you’re interested in it. Diabolical, I know. But this has happened to me a number of times, and clearing cookies occasionally fixes the problem.

Thanks!! how do I clear my cookies?

There is a cookies folder in your “documents” folder. Its easiest if you just click on the Start button, then in the control panel, search for cookies. Make sure you are looking in “my computer”, not just “my documents”. There should be two or three cookies folders. Open them up and delete text files in the folders.

Cookies are also used for good, too. If you want a website to remember your password, for instance, that’s a cookie.

Find your internet browser here, and it will tell you where you can go to find all your cookies. I have Mozilla and I get a list of all the websites and the corresponding cookies. Just scroll down to “amazon” and get rid of those cookies.

Les, that was so creepy! There were cookies from basically every website I had ever been to! I freaked out, and deleted them all, and then when I tried to write this message, I discovered that I wasn’t signed into fluther anymore! Hahahahaha.

Thanks for the info! I’m going to clear my cookies more often! But I’m going to leave fluther on next time.

Nope, they still cost $35 each.

Amazon is usually pretty up and up about that stuff—they often have timers for how long a sale will last on the item page. Unfortunately, you don’t always look or know to look. There is probably a day of the week that they most often do re-pricing (and I probably used to know it). Unfortunately for now, there is probably not a way to get back to the promotion price. But for a lark, you can always e-mail Amazon’s customer service. I’ve always found them to be very responsive.

Empress, there was no timer. I read every line of the product page at least 4 times. I went back over and over the page reading everything, and making sure it was the best deal, and the best quality, and everything. I know there was no timer on these two particular items.

Verrrrrry strange. I’d e-mail them. Or reverse call if you can! I love their reverse call (where they call you).
