What's a good hiking spot in Orange County, and is hiking a bad way to recover from a cold?

Want to break the cycle of lying in bed watching bad TV as this cold abates. Is hiking a good or bad way to do it? The weather is perfect for it and with a bit of free time I’d like to do some exploring. Any good spots for easy, pretty hikes in the OC, LA, or San Diego areas?

I think as long as your body feels rested and you have the energy, it can only be a good thing for you. Getting the fresh air is always good for you too. I say get out and enjoy it while you can!

I’m from the Northwest and though I’ve been down your way many times, don’t really know of any places. Admittedly I’m a bit Jealous as I’ve been somewhat snowed in here in Seattle (although I did get to snowboard in the park a block from my home the other day) and starting to get cabin fever.

Have fun!

You could always hike up the coastline towards San Francisco ;-)

Santiago Canyon has some nice trails.

I used to hike all through the coastal hills between Irvine & Laguna before the toll road & housing developments moved in. :(

I do my hiking in IL, WI and the UP of Michigan so unfortunately I can’t help with the location. The fresh air will do you well and should help you to feel better and give you more energy. Hope you feel better and enjoy the nice weather!

I would think that as long as you’re not running a fever, that getting out in the fresh air would be good for you.
