my girlfriend got me a vintage vesuviana stovetop espresso maker for my birthday. i’m so excited about it but there’s a kind of strange taste in it, kind of metallic and musty. i scrubbed out the part that you pour water into, and i ran water with vinegar and baking soda through it (several times), but it still has a weird taste. i think it might be because there is a part of it that the water travels through that i can’t get to to scrub… any ideas ? here’s a link to a picture and description of one http://www.mcaughtry.com/Pages/GS_Coffee/GS%20coffee%20vesuviano.htm…. i’m especially concerned because it says it’s made of aluminum and i don’t want to be fucking up my brain with some weird aluminum rust or something… grr…

use some flavorless carbonated water. it’s actually what they use to clean the parts in the fountain machines
