I think Sam Hill was a Western cowboy or rancher; Joe Hill was a Labor organizer in the 1920s.

I think if they met it would be like W. meeting Barack!

Sam Hill was a wealthy fellow who built the Maryhill Museum on the Columbia River. A beautiful site, a museum filled with beautiful art. He was one of Queen Marie of Romania’s lovers. She gave him quite a few objects for his museum and came to the U.S. and the Columbia for the dedication of the museum. His list of capital investments/enterprises is long indeed. Joe Hill…yes…the labor organizer of the song…“Said I but Joe you’re ten years dead. I never died said he…I never died said he.” It is a stirring song. Joe was a member of IWW (wobblies) and executed for a murder. Justice miscarried? Read for yourself. Yep Joe would have had a lot to say to Sam about labor and capital, exploitation, class, and justice.

I always liked Baez’s performance of Joe Hill.

Joe Hill is also the pen name of one of Stephen King’s sons, he wrote a book called Heart Shaped Box about an aging rock star who buys a haunted suit on eBay and gets more than he bargained for. Other than that, I have no idea what in the Sam Hill your dream could have been about.
