Lasers create terrible shooters. Pointing the gun at what you want to hit is the easy part. Trigger control, proper sight alignment, not flinching, etc. are all the things that make your bulllet hit the target.
So, it’s another thing you can thank the movies for. The only benefit it has is quick target aquisition, but they’re pretty much useless. With the exception of red dot scopes, which people confuse for “lasers”.
P.S. In real life people almost never notice when a laser on them. Just try it slyly with a laser pointer on a friend and you’ll see what I mean.
