Is a callus made of scar tissue?

Are they the same thing? Is your skin creating scar tissue because it’s been damaged, or just more skin? Is there any difference anyway?

calluses are hardened pads of dead skin tissue, not scar tissue. carefully peeling or grinding down a callus will reveal ordinary (but sensitive) skin beneath, whereas scar tissue grows in place of skin. you can’t remove a scar and reveal good skin beneath.
