I think Tigh is right. The Cylions without the humans are doomed, and the same goes the other way.

Yeah, I have to agree with y’all, but Felix did have a point. I would still be a bit miffed at them for killing most of my species. I hate it when that happens.

It seems that if they don’t work together, they will continue to be at each others’ throats. So I would advocate them working together.

Anyone else think yesterday’s episode was rather lame? At least three characters were, well, out of character.

@TaoSan I thought it was alright, Baltar was terrific. I LOVED last week’s episode though, answers, finally!

Yeah, that’s where they built expectation, but didn’t deliver.

@TaoSan – yeah I thought it was kinda weird. When it ended, I was like, that’s it? You’re not even going to advance the plot? You’re just going to all run around and have “drama” with each other? Lame. I like it was stuff happens. Okay, yes, like 2 things happened last night, but at this point in the series, I just want a little bit more.

Who was out of character though? Ellen was really bitchy and pretty much only thought about herself, just like always, Tigh did stuff that was dumb and couldn’t be open with people, just like always, Baltar took orders from imaginary Caprica 6, just like always, and that “Paula” character came completely out of nowhere, so I don’t know what she’s supposed to act like.

a) The “bitchy” Ellen character was someone who didn’t know who she was, an has only known humping and jugging down booze. Once downloaded, she became a very kind, serene, mature “creator” of a race. Her dialogue with Cavil in the last episode revolved around pettiness of emotions like anger and envy. After all, she has just re-gained the knowledge of her being rather “supreme”. Even in the face of getting her head cut open for some ‘Cavil-persuasion” she remained calm, serene, stoic.

Fast forward to last night’s episode, and they brought back “bitchy twit”. (sorry). Doesn’t make sense that the character would regress into this “petty” behavior.

b) Galen Tyrol has just regained his rank and got “his baby” back. Based on the previous development of the character, it was rather unbelievable that he would decide to abandon ship and start a “new life” on the base star. He knows about the physical state of the ship of course you may say, but it was unbelievable that “Chief Tyrol” would just off the bat say “oh okay lets leave”, without any sign of inner conflict.

Bad writing, IMHO.

c) William Adama’s emerging alcoholism doesn’t really play to the character. He had little issues with using the technology to upgrade the drives of the entire fleet, yet a little “organic” glue drives him to character-breaking inner despair.

Having been in the military myself, I can assure you that superior technology gained from the enemy is always very popular, and not perceived as “dilution of one’s self”. The character has very well dealt with his XO being outed as “the enemy”, how come he’s hit so hard now?

There you have it, I’m outed as a geek now :)

@TaoSan I agree that the chief was way too eagar to abandon ship. Why do they all suddenly identify so strongly with the cylons they had been raised to hate?

With regards to Tyrol, I thought it kind of made sense for Tyrol to want to leave because of that comment that Adama made right after he gave him the job of putting the goo in the ship. Adama’s all like,
“I need a chief, and all I have is a Galen” and than asks him to be chief again, and we, the viewers are all feel-good and happy for him, and then 5 seconds later, Adama is like “But I want it to be an all-human crew”—Did you see Tyrol’s face?? He looked heartbroken! It’s like, Adama wants cylon technology, but he doesn’t want actual cylons, and I think that really reinforced Tyrol sense that he didn’t belong with the fleet.

As far as Ellen, I could see it going either way. She did seem suddenly a lot more mature with Cavil, and then revert back to her old ways, but I pretty much just saw it as the “mature” Ellen was just a front, and that her “true personality” was a bitchy twit.

As for Adama, I’ve pretty much hated the whole line they’ve been going on with him being a drunk. It’s really annoying, and doesn’t fit with how they portrayed him in previous seasons, but it’s nothing new. He’s been getting drunk and doing stupid shit this whole season, so I wouldn’t call this particular episode “out of character” at all.

@mrswho, I think Tyrol and the others suddenly identify with the cylons “they’ve been raised to hate” because suddenly everyone hates them. I would want to leave too…

I was disturbed with the chief’s decision to leave, as well. Not only did I find it out of character, I can’t see someone just abandoning their child like that. (Yes, I know he’s not her biological father, but he has been raising her as his daughter.) Anyway, I’m curious to see where Starbuck comes into all this.

Will turn out she’s a man! HAHA

It’s crossed my mind that she might be Daniel, the seventh cylon. Of course, that’s probably crossed a lot of people’s mind.

@AstroChuck I totally think that she’s Daniel. After all, Starbuck was a dude in the original series, it seems fitting.

How can she be a dude if she has ovaries though? Remember the episode where she was in the cylon “hospital” on occupied Caprica (where she met Sam) and the African American “doctor” took out one of her ovaries? Hey I just realized, what the hell happened to that character? There was one black cylon, and he just mysteriously disappeared!! WTF, man??!?!

Perhaps he was wearing a red shirt. That was death on Star Trek, especially if the guy’s black.
