I’m all in favor of marijuana legalization, regardless of whether it is for medical or recreational use. Way to go Jersey.

I wish some had been available in NY State when my friend died. It was heartbreaking to watch her not be able to eat or keep anything down. I almost think the wasting away had as much, if not more, than a hand in my friend’s quick death as the cancer.

NJ may even be trumped by CA, which is looking at a bill which legalizes marijuana and taxes it—Right now it is the biggest cash crop in the state. They might be able to solve their fiscal problems, empty their jails of incidental smokers of pot, and control smoking to age appropriate adults all at the same time with this forward looking legislation. And, way to go New Jersey!

It is absolutely fucking insane that pot isn’t legal. I don’t smoke weed that often, maybe once or twice a year.

Legalize it, tax it, and empty our jails.

Not as brave of them as it would have been under the Bush admin. Aren’t we expecting to see Obama legalize medical marijuana nationally?

I think it should be legalized for medicinal purposes only. That’s my opinion on it & I am unanamous in that. (only someone who watches British comedy will get that)

And I have never smoked pot. Or drank any alcohol, so personal bias is not a problem here.

I’m from NJ and I think it’s awesome. I read through the entire bill as well as the companion bill A804 which needs to be passed by the General Assembly, and can confidently say this is a step in the right direction. Everything was based on fact, not bias opinion.

Quoting S119 directly, “Modern medical research has discovered a beneficial use for marijuana in treating or alleviating the pain or other symptoms associated with certain debilitating medical conditions, as found by the National Academy of Sciences’ Institute of Medicine in March 199”

i think it’s great personally, and other states should follow suit :)

marijuana really isn’t destructive or unhealthy, and though it has some slight effects on health, there are healthy ways of taking it. not to mention, most food consumed daily in america is way more of a health risk than marijuana.

and as medicine, marijuana has an astounding track record in helping people with disease and reducing stress in patients. it really is a huge help for people everywhere. way to go jersey!

It is about time some state got around to this. How can it make sense to have alcohol be legal but not marijuana.

I think it’s great and another giant step forward for ending marijuana prohibition! Yay NJ!

I agree with the prospect of legalizing it and taxing it. It would certainly take care of the fiscal nightmare we’re in. It needs to be regulated.

Hmm so while im very educated on marijuana, im not so much on this whole process. What steps if any still remain and when can we expect to see the first patients?
