Why can't i connect my mobile phone?

i have been trying to connect my mobile telephone to my thomson orange livebox,while my phone can pick the wi-fi signal the phone wont connect.
Regardless of what i try .Any help ?

Check the wi-fi router’s setting so that it will accept your cellphone’s signal type (may need to call the company or check the phone itself.)

If all else fails, call tech support!
