Roger Waters at Coachella!

I also had some great time at Jack Johnson shows before he was really well known. They were general admission tickets at the Greek Theater in Berkeley. A few summers ago. Front row two nights in a row. G. Love guest appeared one night and Money Mark the next. And the second night we got backstage to chat it up with ALO and Matt Costa.

The very first concert I saw was George Thorogood and the Delaware Destroyers, fabulous concert, but nothing compares to The Kinks live. Nothing.

For me it’s always the Dave Matthews shows (though this past summer at O.A.R is ranking high on the list) mainly because of the atmosphere. There is a certain atmosphere of these shows that really makes them for me. On that note…the first time I saw Ani Difranco I nearly died of happiness.

And if we’re not talking strictly concerts here, I’ve seen some amazing fire dancers, belly dancers, and acrobats.

Single Headline Performer: Prince. 2006. Outdoors. Marcus Amphitheater.

Muliple Headliners: August 26th, 1990, Alpine Valley Music Theater: Eric Clapton, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Jimmie Vaughan, Buddy Guy, Robert Cray Band. Stevie’s last performance. The encore that night was incredible with all of them on stage.

I forgot about Prince! I saw him at Coachella, too! So fabulous!

@Sueanne_Tremendous Alpine Valley is the best place that I have been to for a show. It’s beautiful there. So jealous you got to see that concert! It must have been amazing.

Hot Chip at the Mezzanine, SF was amazing, as were Junior Boys.

AIR live at the Masonic Center, SF was memorable.

Iron Butterfly concert 1969 – Playing In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida. When Ron Bushy started beating those drums you could feel it in your gut. During his solo, the others sat down on the stage and watched while he pounded, shirt off and sweat flying. Add to that the sweet, acrid smell of something else in the air and all the senses were stimulated. Awesome. That was 40 years ago and I can picture it perfectly. Crap! Can I be that old?!?!

@jonsblond ~ that was the best! I remember camping out overnight with my friends (remember those days?) at the stadium because we had GA tickets. We wound up at the front row!!

Seed Bed .

Being a singer myself, the experience is subjective (and one of me being on the stage). I have not been in the crowd that often actually. I loved the Weinfest in Meissen (Germany). I always had good gigs there, they were open air and the weather’s perfect in September. About half a million people flock to the city that weekend and I always had crowds as far as the eye could say (and played from a ledge overlooking a square). The whole thing was an amazing experience, especially the first time.

I know this has nothing to do with the music, sorry.

Warped Tour! Some of my favorite bands all crammed in one place at the same time.

@Randy agreed…though more recent Warped Tours have been less amazing than they used to be.

Yeah seriously, the whole Coachella experience in general. Is cheating? It was hot a fuck, but incredible for numerous reasons.

including the fact that I got in for free!

oooh Coachella is the one reason that living on the east coast makes my heart hurt a bit (it’s more expensive to get there than tickets!) on the other hand I did go to Bonnaroo and that was pretty amazing.

Yeah there’s good festivals all over. I actually live in northern California, but my friend’s mom caters festivals for a living so we all trekked down there for the weekend!
But now they have Outside Lands for us here in the Bay Area.
