I was amazed. The last few episodes weren’t all that good, but the finale, I mean, wow!

Did you like it?

I have never watched it, but have heard great reviews from a lot of people. Now I have to buy the entire collection of episodes before I can watch the finally.

Is the show as a whole really that good?

Yes, it’s definitely worth it. I mean, we’re still talking TV show. Meaning the usual ups and downs. Sometimes bad writing, coherence issues every now and then, all those little things that happen over 5 years. Especially the last 3 or 4 episodes have become a little “over-saturated” with drama.

Generally though, it was probably the best use of TV air time since the Sopranos.

Oh, you meant Battlestar…

Yeah, it was pretty crazy. I thought they did a pretty good job of wrapping things up. And I like how Starbuck just “disappeared” at the end. :P

I’m glad they’re still carrying on, though, with a new series. I found that exciting.

TaoSan, I completely agree with you. I thought the last 2 or 3 episodes before the finale really sucked. I wanted to like them, but it seemed like so many of the scenes just left me saying “What was the point of that?”

I loved the finale. I felt like the writing really really improved compared to most of the other episodes in this season, whatever stupid number they came up with to call it (4.5?), I can never keep those straight.

But I was pretty disappointed that they never directly addressed some of my burning questions, for example how they made Starbuck just disappear, and I guess the suggestion was that she really was an “angel” like Baltar said, but I thought that was such a huge copout, and it made me feel like they had never actually what the whole finding-her-body thing was all about when they wrote it, they were just like, hmm, this would be cool…

Did you guys watch “The Last Fracking Special”? I thought that was fairly entertaining, and I’d be interested to hear people’s thoughts on it as well.

The show is probably my favorite show ever.

I thought the ending was absolutely terrible.

Dunno about copout, when you think back to seasons 1 and 2, the show had a much more “spiritual” aspect. So departing from the (pseudo)science explanations back to the roots maybe wasn’t that satisfying, but not really a let-down either. More like a return to the roots thingy.

I found it a bit unrealistic that all the key figures chose to “disappear in loneliness forever”. From my military background I know the experience of “finishing” a long and traumatic episode together; usually, it bonds people together, not make them choose to disappear in the loneliest corner they can find.

Oh well, it’s over.
