I think it would be good to avoid the comparisons and just take everything at face value.

And yes, I do sort of feel like a refugee, but I think this could be fun. But I don’t really like the way this tiny avatar is as big as we can see it.I think it should at least be a little bigger on the profile or something. The “Live Preview” thing is awesome as is the speed of this site in comparison with the sluggish molasses-level speed of wis.dm

I came here from another Q&A site almost a year ago when it took a turn for the worse. I felt like a complete stranger (duh) and the format here was completely different, but within a couple of days it was like home. There are great people here who’ll be very happy to see some fresh faces. And there’s not a lot of cliquishness or competitiveness here, so anyone who shows goodwill and a willingness to fit in should blend right in.

@Dansedescygnes There is a way to see the avatar pics in their un-thumbnailed form. In Firefox you can right-click them, choose “copy image location”, paste into your address bar, delete the “_thumb” at the end of the address and hit return.
