Dear God i hope there’s no “double entendre” behind this question… but taking it at face value… i’ll only eat the brown squishy part if i use the banana in a shake or smoothie… otherwise… no.

If it’s a fairly light bruise, yes. But super dark ones I don’t like.

Having said that, I am hoping the same as @Dr_C

is it bad to eat the bruise? or does it just taste bad, ive always been to grossed out to try it.

no puns, just naners

Dr_C's avatar

I’m pretty sure it’s not bad for you (unless of course there’s mold on it or it smells a little off)... but you’re right, it is pretty gross.

ew, no

It’s just a little squishier and tastes more ripe, no harm, no foul.
Eat it. :)

Personally, I prefer bananas right before they’re ripe, when they’re extra firm.

Oh boy.

If I’m just eating the banana, no I cut the bruise out with a spoon.

I’m with @asmonet on this one. I don’t like bananas once they are soft.

Dansedescygnes's avatar

No way. I don’t eat apple bruises either.

chelseababyy's avatar

Nope. Something about that brown bit just urks me. Ew.

warpling's avatar

I always cut them out, or close my eyes and eat it with a good part and try to not taste it. If it’s in cooking, I don’t care.

casheroo's avatar

No. The brown part freaks me out. I like a firmer banana. giggles

No, I just cut it off with a small knife.

I’m so glad to have helped.

no!
well, let me rephrase that
I have been known to toss into a smoothie very ripe bananas, bruises and all. As far as snacking on a banana though, I prefer yellow ones which are still slightly tart, with no brown on them.

jo_with_no_space's avatar

Urgh, no!

matt2001's avatar

Its not bad for you. Riper bananas are better because the starch changes to sugar. Thats why some bananas taste sour – they are not ripe. The starch hasn’t converted to sugar.

sometimes.

Only in banana bread.
